Original review Apr 12, 2015
I like leather purses and usually purchase Dooney & Burke purses, which I've had great experiences with. I liked this black leather Coach purse so I bought it! It was over $300 and it was not at their outlet! I thought I was buying a high quality purse but I was definitely wrong! Within a year the shoulder strap started fraying and got worse so I sent it into Coach along with their $20 "review fee". I basically just needed a new strap. Two weeks later I received the purse back along with a letter saying they didn't feel it was repairable and gave me a 40% discount off a new purse. Now why would I want another Coach purse them knowing they don't stand behind their products?? Never ever will I purchase another Coach purse and I will tell everyone I know about their poor quality and they don't stand behind their products!

I bought a $609 purse a year later the zipper broke. I also send it to repair with $20 and 2 weeks later got the sane letter you did.

Can not fix it and a 49 percent off next purse. Will never buy Coach again.

I recently had a bad experience with Ralph Lauren cords purchased throught Lord and Taylor. Twice wrote to RAlpy Lauren about problem ; no response; nor replacement;Lord and Taylor would not accept return; thought $70 men's cords should not fray at knee after one wearing.

The fabric actually lifted off of the welft.

guess what, the same happened with michael kors, neither the store or the corporate office stood behind their name. this is the new and improved customer service in america.

there is always away out for them. i bought the bag at leather works and kors says that its an unauthorized store, as if i bought it on the streets on nyc.

I bought a purse at Coach thinking I was buying a high quality purse that would be with me for a very long time from a brand that stood by the quality of its products.

Instead less than a year passed my purse is already defective. I go to a store, they charge me $20 to send my purse for repair. I receive my purse after 3 weeks, not repaired and with a letter giving me a 40% discount for a new purse.

Why after this experience would I ever want to buy a Coach bag?

The lack of customer service at a store as expensive as Coach is just baffling.

Coach - Bangle Bracelet Review from Chelmsford, England

I spent 10 years in Sydney, and when I left my beautiful girlfriends clubbed together and bought me a bangle from Coach. Not cheap!!! The clasp would not stay done up and so it just kept falling off. As it was so expensive I was just too scared to wear it. I went back to the shop where they bought it, with the receipt, and told them the issue. They refused to exchange or refund. I would have taken one the same that worked but they wouldn't even do that. I assume they thought I was returning a fake but I wasn't and I now look at this gorgeous bracelet every day, which I chose!, and can never, ever wear. *** customer service Coach. Shame on you for wasting people's hard earned money, especially when it was such a precious gift. It's not just rich people that shop in your stores you know.

Coach - Rubber Seal Breaking Review
Updated by user Oct 26, 2014

Forgot to add when they sent me the letter saying the purse could not be fixed, they didn't even send the purse back as I had originally requested. They said I could have the half valued gift card or I had 30 days from the date of the letter (which was less than 3 weeks when I recieved it) to contact them or my purse would be discarded!

Original review Oct 26, 2014
I bought the Coral tote August of 2013 and within 1 year the handles started falling apart with the threading and "rubber" seal breaking away in only 1 of the straps! Being my favorite purse and my wedding color, I sent in for it to be fixed and they said it was a default in the purse and it couldn't be fixed. They offered me half the value of the purse! Completely unacceptable! Their products have turned to ***! I have bought coach purses for the last 10 years, but I swear I will never buy one again! Terrible customer service.

Coachfactory.com delay in processing payment caused item I ordered to become out of stock

I placed an order for a handbag and when trying to enter my payment information, the website would not accept it and directed me to call the 800 phone number which I did. Gave the customer service rep my credit card info over the phone. Two days later received a voice mail that there was an issue with the payment information, called them back and gave corrected information. Four days later I receive an email stating that the item I ordered was now out of stock. It wasn't out of stock when I placed my order! The delay in processing my order resulted in the item to be bought out. I am extremely disappointed. Neither of the two customer service representatives I spoke with ever mentioned it was sold out and so I know it wasn't at the time. Never ordering from them again.

Coach - Wallet repair service horrible

I took my wallet in to be sent out for repairs on 1/27. The store in Las Vegas #5141 sent the wallet to Coach Repair in Florida on 2/4 and it was received in Florida on 2/9. I called on 3/17 and was told 10 more days. I called again on 3/26 and was told it was in repair (knew that). I called again on 4/1 and was told that the reason for the whole delay was due to the store sending to the wrong department and it just sat. Asked to be transferred to the repair department so I could get a better status. All is done electronically is what I was told. Well their system is flawed and their service is horrible. Will have to rethink getting Coach items in the future.

Coach Quality and Repair Service are a Joke

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I bought two Coach products - one purse and one wallet. Both needed repair within a year after purchasing. The purse clasp made a springing noise when rotating it, and after paying to send it back to Coach, Coach said they couldn't fix it. They did not send my bag back to me. Instead, they sent a $200 gift card to purchase another coach product. With the wallet, the zipper broke. I paid to send it back to the company, but Coach couldn't fix it and subsequently sent it back to me with a 40% off coupon that can only be used with full priced items. It seems that they don't repair anything with this service. You fork over money to ship the broken merchandise to them, and their solution to you instead of repair is to go buy even more Coach products and only give you some money to be able to do so. Inevitably, if you take them up on their coupon offer, you will end up spending more money on more products that I am sure will break as well. I refuse to buy into this scam and will NEVER buy another Coach product again. I am very upset with the quality of their products and their so-called repair service.

all of you people complain about Coach. good for you, when they go out of business because of all of your negative remarks and buying Michael Kors bags that are CHEAP CHEAP you'll wish you had a COACH to shop at.

If you don't like it fine don't shop their go to Micahel kors or Kate spade.

the company does not owe you anything people need to stop acting like they are entitled for everything that is why america is doing so bad. people who complain and always want something for free.

I do not want anything for free. I simply want to get what I paid for.

It is obvious you haven't splurged on any of these name brands that didn't last as expected. Go ahead and sit back and judge, but I know what the value of my dollar is worth. I am not buying any other brand names. I am tired of being taken advantage of by big companies who charge a pretty penny.

I am going back to non-name brands that last a whole lot longer and that do not promise to be able to fix their products because they simply don't need to.

Lost a sale, may have discriminate the way I was dressed.

It's 2 days before mother's day and I get a Coach bag. I was in the store for 10 minutes and I did not get greeted or asked how they could help me. They walked right by me. I walked around the whole store and finally when I got near the register, a sales person finally said Hi to me but, that was it. There was 3 sales people behind the counter. I guess it takes 3 people to wrap up one bag. It might have been that I was dressed in leggings, boots and a sweatshirt. Going to Michael Kors!

Coach does not live up to guarantee!!!!!!!!!!!!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I return my Coach purse that I only owned for a little over a year to coach due to the fact that the handles on the purse came unsewn and the plastic tubing inside the handles completely broke off. I was informed that I would have to pay a shipping fee, but if they were unable to repair my purse that they would return my shipping charge and also include a voucher for the value of the purse that I bought. Neither happened I was returned my broken purse with no repairs and a letter that offered me a 40% discount on a brand new Fall 2014 Coach purse from the Coach store or Coach.com. I am very disappointed because if you read their guarantee online it states they will refund any customer unhappy with their purchase and will also repair any manufacturer defects, which my purse was. Will never buy a Coach purse ever again and will never recommend anyone buying a purse from them. I am trashing the purse they sent back to me and selling the others I own.

Had the same issue. Zipper broke after a few months.

They admitted it was defective but gave me a store credit Mitch less than I paid because I didn't have the receipt.

Awful customer service.

I will pay 23 cents for one.

Actually per the store manager at Coach the warranty is from two years from when the bag was initially released. So my bag was within the two year warranty.

Guest

There warranty is for a year. That's why.

You had your bag over a year.

Physically ill from strong toxic odor of new COACH purse

A couple months ago, I purchased a Coach purse from a Coach outlet store. I used it a few hours one day and the chemical odor emanating from it gave me a migraine, sore throat, very sore eyelids and bloodshot eyes. My migraine did not let up even thru the night. It wasn’t until the next morning I began to notice the strong odor that had not dissipated and the room the purse was in was engulfed in the odor. I put the purse out in the garage and

Within 30 minutes, my migraine of 18 hrs had gone away.

This really had me worried as I have fibromyalgia and certainly don’t want to add to my system’s challenges. When I went out later into the garage, which is vented to the outside, the entire garage stunk.

I contacted Coach who initially told me to stuff it with papers to absorb the odor. This was beyond saving or deodorizing. After a 3rd contact with Coach customer service in New York, they offered me a return address shipping paid label for me to return to them for a refund. During this time, I continued to ask what could be the cause of this odor, as I have been affected physically by something very toxic. They never addressed my questions. (the odor is very strong chemical smell that makes me think of pesticides. While it is a leather bag, it does NOT smell like leather)

I have read online that Coach bags are now manufactured in the Dominican Republic and CHINA! There are others in discussion groups online that have encountered this same problem with the Coach product...with similar physical symptoms.

When I originally returned the purse to them, just the handling of labeling the box and taking it to the Post Office made me sick again and it took another 4-5 days not to have the obvious physical symptoms. I eventually was able to get my refund. However, Returns Department didn’t pay any attention to Customer Service person's instructions not to return the purse back to me…..and today, I received it in the mail returned to me with a form letter saying they cannot refund for items that had been used. While I had initially used it for 4 hours and still had the tags and original sales receipt, evidently that didn’t matter….nor does their right hand talk to their left!!!

I find that seriously irresponsible. Also proving they do not stand behind their lifetime guarantee!! When I contacted them today by email, I was told to dispose of the purse, as returning it to them would cause me more physical problems. Right now I have it outside on a back patio...in the box. I cannot handle it or be around it.

I am searching for someone to test the odors of this purse and determine what kind of chemicals I was affected by. For my own health, I need to know what I am up against. Coach has refused to give me that information. This was a $430 purse retail and while I paid less at the outlet store, NO ONE should be a chance victim of this kind of thing!! Coach, for all their "luxury" goods and profits, certainly does not value their customers enough to put a stop to this or answer a customers serious questions when it relates to their health.

I purchased an Alviero Martini bag early, 2019, directly from the store in Italy. I was so excited b/c I love their signature geo print.

I received the bag, and immediately could smell chemicals. I wrote it off and thought it has to be leather, their website says leather. I wrapped the bag up and put it in the closet for a few months anticipating using it in the spring. When I unwrapped the bag all I could smell was a horrendous chemical odor.

I kept looking at it, smelling it, and realized how cheap the materials felt and looked. I left the bag opened in my bedroom for a few hours and the toxic smell filled the air and made me sick with a migraine and nausea. I discovered upon investigation that PVC, which was mentioned on the card within the bag, and no "bovine" noted also on this materials card, is toxic and that is what their bag was made of even though their website said leather. I was so annoyed that I wrote to the company via their Contact page telling them how toxic PVC is also sending links to websites to advise.

I was told that their bags are not toxic and they don't use PVC, and denied my request for return, since it was way past their return policy.

I then contacted my credit card company and they were great. I ultimately got a refund and didn't have to return the bag.

Oh, man. I just purchased an Amaria Italian leather bag today.

I got it at Burlington, which usually means overstock or seconds. Both the tag and the bag say Fine Italian Leather, but I cannot tell because of the strong chemical odor. I had a horrible headache, and as soon as I put the bag in another room, it went away.

What a shame. It’s a pretty bag, but it is going back.

Guest

I bought Perry Ellis luggage with the same sickening fumes. As soon as I opened it, my dog sneezed over and over and left the room! I thought it was some poison from a Chinese manufacturer for Perry Ellis.

Tanasha Lqt

I am so sorry that you and others have found the same issues and it's making you sick. I sent my bag to a woman in CA who specialized in neutralizing and detox charcoals and sprays.

she wanted to try her products on the bag. She had it for 3 wks, and also let it air in the sun, along with activated charcoal bags inside each pocket. she claimed she no longer could 'smell' the toxins and returned it to me. As soon as I opened it I began having a migraine and serious sinus burning....again.

I ended up throwing the purse away because Coach didn't want it back. They wouldn't accept a return that had "already been used" and I couldn't donate it to Goodwill knowing it was so toxic.

I'm sorry I haven't found or heard of any resolution. sincerely.

Guest

I have the same issue right now. The bag smells like vitamins.

.. but, worse! It's horrible and also makes me ill. I don't know what to do about it.

Anything it touches, stained it with the smell. It is sitting in my garage right now, because I can't stand it in my house!

Guest

I had the same issue and had to give the bag away. It smelled so bad in my closet I had to seal it in a plastic bag. It was purchased from an outlet store in PA .

Guest

I have some problem with coach bags, because i don,t know how to distinguish it is real .http://coachfactory.loveitornot.com

The style was CAMPBELL :x F24961. I've since done some research and have found folks describing differences in many of the coach outlet purses vs retail Coach store.

This was a coach outlet. While new and 'authentic' coach, Coach has these made FOR the factory outlet. Also, evidently noted in the tag that begins with F. I agree, it may have been Customs (perhaps extermination upon receiving?) or who knows what other possibility.

Also found in research, outlet stores DO carry some Coach retail handed over to the outlet store, but tag will be different, it will have a dust bag, and found in one small corner of the store. I have personally had a toxic overload from the odors and whatever was in/on my outlet store bag and am having to detox.

Migraines and pain have sidelined me, now, for 2 months. Be VERY CAREFUL if you shop at the outlet store!!!

Guest

Hey what was the style? I have several phoebe bags I bought and now you mention it yes all the ones that are all leather phoebe reek like ***. Maybe contact EPA or your state environmental office or even customs ?

Guest

I own several coach bags, none of which came from their outlet stores but their mall boutiques or Dillards. I will add that none of them had an obnoxious odor.

Maybe there was something going on at that particular location that could have led to that disappointing experience. That seriously sucks that you had such a terrible experience.

If Coach can't verify their product, who can?

I got a Coach bag from someone else. We both believe it to be authentic and even have the inside card that comes with it. One thing may be off so we tried to get the serial number verified and were told they don't do that and now the aren't even including serial numbers in the bags anymore. If it's this difficult to confirm an authentic Coach bag, does it really matter if it's real or not? I mean seriously whose responsibility is it to ensure the authenticity of a product if not the manufacturer? NEVER EVER buying anything from Coach.
