I have been purchasing Coach purses since I was old enough to wear purses. A few years ago, my husband bout me a purse for our wedding gift.

Not one week later the strap broke. I sent it in to get repaired, and they indicated they were unable to repair and would give me a credit. I was appreciative of the credit, but it was for much less than the purse was purchased for and it took away they "wedding gift" factor.

Fast forward to now- I recently brought a purse to a Coach location because the strap was beginning to fray.

Since it was over 1 year, I would have to pay for it to be repaired. I believe they said I would have to pay for shipping and if they were able to repair it I would pay the cost of that as well. I thought Coach used to guarantee their product for a lifetime? Ok, fine, no big deal.

Three weeks later, I bring a larger clutch on vacation, and while I was there the zipper breaks. It was a Christmas gift from my husband, so I asked him to search for the receipt. Perfect! He purchased it less than a year ago.

I bring the purse into the store, and what do you know, they want to charge me for repair. They said it was $75 to repair the zipper. Thats almost as much as the purse?! I asked about the 1 year policy.

Apparantly, my husband purchased it from the factory outlet and they have a different policy.

Needless to say, I will no longer purhcase Coach purses. The last 3 I bought (or were given to me) broke and they require an obnoxious amount to repair.

Reviewer is in unhappy mood. Please immediately contact the author of this review to discuss bad quality of coach repair. Coach needs to read this review and look into the issue (if any) according to poster's claims.

I paid a lot of money for 2 Coach purses with the understanding that I'd never have to buy a purse again as the warranty was lifetime. I got a huge shock when they tried to charge me for a zipper pull.

I raised so much cain that they did it for free. When I asked about the lifetime warranty, no one knew about it.

I'm seeing online that other folks have experienced the same thing. I'm going to write the CEO.

I'm glad I found this review, because I also have a repair that needs to be done but didn't know where to begin. This disappoints me as well because I have several Coach bags/wallets/wristlets that I have bought over the years and to know now that they do NOT have a lifetime warranty as once told, makes me to never want to buy another Coach item.

I agree with you. Having same issues. Straps/handles on bag fray/break & for the amount of money spent that 1) shouldn't be happening 2) should be fixed

I purchased my Coach bag just over a year ago and the craftsmanship is horrible! It definitely doesn't stand up to everyday use.

The thread in the straps fray terribly and the layers begin to separate and look worn at the edges. I would expect much more from a $400 bag. I thought that I would be able to send it in and get a credit to apply to a new bag like I do at other upscale merchants, but I was sadly mistaken.

I'll never purchase a Coach bag again! Ever.


I have 20 year old coach bags that are in much better shape than the ones I’ve purchased in the past 2 to 3 years. The quality has significantly deminished over time. This makes me so sad because I was a coach superfan...


I myself was a coach fan I Own a large collection of bags and wallets. I experienced the same issue I had a bag that I paid over one hundred and it started cracking and splittting around the edges and the strap It was less then two years and was told it was not able to be returned because it passed the warranty date.

I was surprised to hear that what happen to the high end service. So I decided not to buy any more products from them. I have older bags that are beautifully made of good craftsmanship .

I noticed the recent bags look cheap and are so nice looking. Had to share my opinion


Sadly, the knock off my sister bought at a flea market held up better than the last one I purchased. I am off to Kate Spade much better reviews.


Coach never guaranteed their bags for a lifetime. At least not your lifetime, it was lifetime of the bag.

Which would be 3-7 years depending on material. People hear what they want to hear....

Coach stopped the lifetime guarantee thing a LONG time ago. And really, it's hard not to notice a pattern here; try taking better care of your bags.

Wow...nice reply. You must work for Coach, glad I came across this review, I was in the market and considering a Coach bag...think I'll pass.

There are better option...like Cole Haan. I have never worried about my Cole Haan bags fraying or zippers breaking.

After 10 years they still look like the day I bought them. Thanks for the review...
