Coach - Warranty (Changes?)
I have been purchasing Coach purses since I was old enough to wear purses. A few years ago, my husband bout me a purse for our wedding gift.
Not one week later the strap broke. I sent it in to get repaired, and they indicated they were unable to repair and would give me a credit. I was appreciative of the credit, but it was for much less than the purse was purchased for and it took away they "wedding gift" factor.
Fast forward to now- I recently brought a purse to a Coach location because the strap was beginning to fray.
Since it was over 1 year, I would have to pay for it to be repaired. I believe they said I would have to pay for shipping and if they were able to repair it I would pay the cost of that as well. I thought Coach used to guarantee their product for a lifetime? Ok, fine, no big deal.
Three weeks later, I bring a larger clutch on vacation, and while I was there the zipper breaks. It was a Christmas gift from my husband, so I asked him to search for the receipt. Perfect! He purchased it less than a year ago.
I bring the purse into the store, and what do you know, they want to charge me for repair. They said it was $75 to repair the zipper. Thats almost as much as the purse?! I asked about the 1 year policy.
Apparantly, my husband purchased it from the factory outlet and they have a different policy.
Needless to say, I will no longer purhcase Coach purses. The last 3 I bought (or were given to me) broke and they require an obnoxious amount to repair.
Reason of review: Bad quality.
Location: Chicago, Illinois

Me too
I had zippers break on two of my wallets. I went to the store and I was told wallets are only covered for a month!
So how does this make any difference from any other store? I too refuse to buy any more zipper wallets.
I just went through the same thing! My last purse I paid $20.00 to have the zipper replaced.
My latest purse, would have cost $190.00 to repair!! The strap frayed too! What happened with their customer service???!!!
I have 4 purses. This one was the newest and the worst!
Thanks I was told they had a life guarantee. Not wasting another penny as Coach is having production done in China snd reassured me the best quality materials are used as they ship their materials to China.
Junk might as well say dollar store.
All itโs worth. Funny I finding Macyโs products sold at Walmart for 1/8 of the price
Suggestion : Go to a shoe repair guy . Mine took my favorite Coach boots that I was ready to donate and resoled them and polished them to perfection . Looked as good as new for $40.
OMG probably because most are made in China now. I read they started having products made their snd they confirmed it.
They told me it was the same as they shipped the materials. No more coach for me
I also got a coach bag as a gift..my straps have frayed and are nearly unusable! I only have used it for about 6 months!
It's brown and I only use it in the winter! The clasp broke on the last one I had!
I am done with coach!! Ugh!
I also purchased coach bags for over 25 years. The zipper broke on one within a year.
The other broke after two years they wanted 75.00. I purchased a watch about 3 years ago. It has not kept the correct time for over two years. I have taken it to jewelers had the battery replaced I was told it is not the battery.
Coach is not good anymore. The quality is not there. Will not buy coach anymore.i even has coach shoes about 20 pair . A number of bags.
No more I will find another company.
I have friends that feel the same way. Goodbye Coach.
Coach needs to reconsider its price point, if it's not going to offer quality merchandise anymore...
I am glad you share your experience
Too bad staffs service in Thailand and too bad customer care service. Enough for Coach royalty....
I TOO, HAVE EXPERIENCED THE POOR QUALITY OF COACH PURSES AND WALLETS. NO MORE.....
I purchased a Coach because the less expensive bags I bought began to ravel in the straps. I thought surely a bag as expensive as Coach would hold up, but its straps are raveling as well. Never again.
2 coach bags both straps started to unravel. Never ever will buy coach
Iโm done with Coach. Thank you!
I too have been purchasing Coach purses just about all my adulthood and I have seen the quality go down. I still own my 1st Coach purse my husband purchased for me and it's still in excellent condition.
The two that my husband purchased for me about 2 years ago both started showing wear less than a year of having them.
The strap is ripping apart from the purse on one and on the other one the handles are fraying and it fills as if the inside is made of cardboard that has broken down. I am VERY disappointed in COACH right now til I have vowed not to purchase another one.
100% with you on losing me as well no more coach bags for me they are made way to cheap now and they dropped the lifetime but never dropped the price you pay! Shame shame!!!
As much as they cost, there should be a lifetime warranty, free of charge!!
I thought coach had a lifetime warranty on their products as well. Could it be that the China connection has voided that pledge to consumers?
Similar thing here... I was a lifelong Coach person.
I rarely used the warranty, only twice in over 30 years of buying coach purses, but the warranty change and craftsmanship making a sharp downturn has turned me away. Guess this is why you are starting to see coach purses at thrift stores, I've even donated a few in the past couple years.
They aren't worth it anymore. :(
